You unravel me, with a melody
You surround me with a song
Of deliverance, from my enemies
Till all my fears are goneI’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of GodFrom my mothers womb
You have chosen me
Love has called my name
I’ve been born again, into a family
Your blood flows through my veinsI’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
I’m no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of GodI am surrounded
By the arms of the father
I am surrounded
By songs of deliverance
We’ve been liberated
From our bondage
Were the sons and the daughters
Let us sing our freedomYou split the sea
So I could walk right through it
My fears were drowned in perfect love
You rescued me
And I will stand and singI am the child of God
You split the sea
So I could walk right through it
You drowned my fears in perfect love
You rescued me
And I will stand and sing
I am the child of God– No Longer Slaves
As I was listening to this Sunday’s sermon, I was reminded of Gardner Webb University
and the Gathering. One of the songs we sang was “Child of God”. In the sermon on Sunday, our rector talked about that we are meant to be children of God. That reminded me of one of the many songs that I sang at the Gathering. “Child of God” was one of my favorite songs we sang. I miss the Gathering and do miss singing that particular song. The above lyrics are some of the lyrics from that song.
It is true that we are children of God. Have the curiosity that children have. Ever since I was child, I have been curious. I still am curious to this today. I still have that in me. We do grow up to be independent, but we need to realize that we still rely on others. We can’t make it through life alone. We rely on family and friends to make it through life. Difficult times hit, and when those times hit, we know we can’t make it through alone. Even if we are optimistic, we need to be able to lean on someone.
We are children of God. We need to see through others. We need to accept others for who they are. See through color- children can do that. If we are children of God-we need to be able to go back to that. I know beauty comes from within not from what we see from the outside. We need to show love towards others- we are all different from each other, but yet still the same. We need to be just as God created us to be.
This was a nice post to read; that song sounds very nice too! Everything you said here is spot on! 🙂

Listening to our rector talking about being a Child of God reminded me of the song, which reminded me of The Gathering, one of my favorite parts about Gardner Webb.
