It makes the movie interactive to a certain extent. It’s a break that usually involves the child getting up and singing and dancing during the movie. Creates an active memory.

There is a nostalgia factor- even as an adult, when you watch a childhood musical, you feel like a child because you fell in love in with as a child

I think that, for sure, the nostalgia is a huge part of what makes childhood musicals so touching and special. They just hold a piece of you and the memories have a tendency to come flying back when you revisit them!

Nostalgia is a big thing.
Sometimes you might forget you love a certain childhood musical, but when you see it again either on stage or movie, you might actually remember that you love so many years ago.
When you see a childhood musical, you no longer feel an adult, you feel like a child; no other musical has that kind of power
