What is important behind your first actor or actress with a musical theatre character?

I think the first actor/actress you see portray a role tends to have the biggest impact on how you view/understand the character and, to a certain extent, your emotional connection to that character. This isn’t always the case but most of the time, that’s how it seems to work for me! It’s awesome to see other portrayals, too, though because it adds onto that!

The first actor/actress is the beginning- you knew NOTHING previously. The first is where you begin your emotional connection. The first actor/actress is really ALWAYS why I have an emotional connection to the characters I have an emotional connection to in the first place.
The ones after your first add onto what you know- they are the ones you do question. You are thinking “does this even work or fit”.
