When some people hear you are a musical fanatic, they actually do think you are a musical theatre actor or actress. But it doesn’t truly mean that- you don’t have to be on stage or the crew or the creative team to be a musical fanatic. You basically can just be watching musicals. So, what does it mean to be a musical fanatic?
The term musical fanatic refers to a massive love you have for musicals. You understand the power of live theater. You know the emotions are the strongest in person. There is a lot of energy live due to the two-way conversation between the performers and the audience. That energy is also stronger live due to the orchestra, which feels like an actual character. If you actually want to see at least one musical per year, that is a sign you are a massive fan of musicals. It is hard for us to put into words why we love musicals or why we love a certain musical. These fans love to feel all the emotions. A lot of them love to collect the playbills and have an amazing musical theatre collection.
You get asked some odd questions and statements as a musical fanatic. You are asked questions like “why do you love romance”, “why do you keep on going back to a tragedy if you will always feel heartbroken”, “why do you love musicals”, “why don’t you remember seeing “a certain musical”,etc… You get the picture. Musical fanatics love a lot of musicals, and they usually can think of other musicals they want to see.

Lol, some people in the Musical Community actually think that? It’s like saying that a person who is a music lover (not to be confused with musical theatre) and goes to festivals is automatically a musician. I happen to be one cause I feel it’s my calling and something I genuinely love to do, and I haven’t gone to a single music festival, other than participate in online music festivals like Secret Sky.
