Book Series I Love

All of the book series I love all happen to be fantasies. In order to actually love or like a series, you have to like the first book. A good chunk of my favorite book series are well-known. What are some of my favorites?

Harry Potter

I grew up on the films. Soon enough, I was finding myself reading the books. I loved the world of Hogwarts- witches, wizards, magic, creatures, beasts, quidditch, and the different trails and challenges the trio had to face. Of course, I love Diagon Alley and the Weasly’s house. I love seeing some of the magic outside of Hogwarts. Harry, Ron, and Hermione are just one of my favorite friendships found in books. Eventually I hope to reread the series. I really think Rowling got some of her inspiration from Lord fo the Rings.

Lord of the Rings

Due to loving HP, it would be of no surprise I love the series. I really think that those who love HP will love Lord of the Rings. Think about it- spider attacks, best friendships, the ring, and lots of challenges and trails, dark lords- you get the picture. My favorite characters are the Hobbits- Bilbo, Frodo, Pippin, Merry, and Sam. I started with The Hobbit and eventually read Lord fo the Rings. The friendships of Merry/Pippin, and Frodo/Sam are incredible. Merry and Pippin are best friends, but at the same time troublemakers. When it comes to Frodo and Sam- they are best friends as well, but Frodo never would have made it without Sam. I mean, Sam’s loyalty to Frodo is incredible.

Outside of the Hobbits, I also do love Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas and other characters. I do love that a new language was invented- Elvish.

Narnia

It was the combo of HP and Narnia that made me the fantasy fan I am today. I love the four children- Lucy, Edmund, Susan, and Peter. I love the entire world of Narnia- from the creatures, beasts, the dancing trees, and of course Aslan himself. There are so many reasons why I love this particular series.

Sister’s Grimm

This is one of those series where we familiar characters and new characters. I do remember loving these series.

Land of Stories

I just love how so many fairy tale animals and humans are in this series. I love the original characters as well. It is like we are looking at the same fairy tales, but at the same time a very original story.

Avalon: Web of Magic

It seems that a lot of my favorite fantasy series have magic in them. The magic found in the three girls is used by stones. Just the talking animals and the girls do make it quite an exciting series.

Shades of Magic

This is the most recent series I learned to love. If you actually love different kinds of magic, the city of London, character-driven plots, lots of suspense and plot twists, and a fast-paced story, you will love this series. Kell and Lila do make quite an incredible team- Kell is our main character while Lila acts as co-protagonist. Lila is one of the most shady characters in the series. I even love some of the added characters that show up as the series goes on- Alucard Emery for instance. I love the Antari- they are the most powerful magicians in the series- after all, they have the power to travel between the different Londons. This is yet another series were a new language was invented.

  1. Some really great series on here! It’s been a while since I’ve been able to properly commit to a series (of more than three books, that is). 😅 I used to love reading long series, but these days I tend to lose interest about halfway through the series, especially if not all of the books have been released yet. I’m really hoping that changes at some point, though, because I’d really love to read a series again!

  2. I recently started rereading Harry Potter. It’s so great! And Narnia and Lord of the Rings are the best classics! I haven’t read any of the others, but Shades of Magic looks really interesting.
