Songs that Always get Me

There are lots of songs I love in musical. However, there some that always get you- the ones that reduce you to tears. I thought today to list some of those songs. Of all musicals, Les Mis and Rent are the ones that make me an emotional wreck the most.

  1. I Dreamed a Dream
  2. Bring Him Home
  3. Drink with Me
  4. On My Own
  5. A Little Fall of Rain
  6. Empty Chairs at Empty Tables
  7. Come to Me
  8. Without You
  9. Will I
  10. Letter from the Refuge
  11. Beauty and the Beast- the past times I saw the 2017 film, I did tear up a bit during this song

Well, that list is mostly Les Mis. I truly start to become an emotional wreck during “I Dreamed a Dream”,

Well, there are some songs where I was reduced to tears, but don’t always get me. Here is that list.

  1. For Good
  2. Edelweiss

Can’t think of any more right now. What are some musical theatre songs that always get you?

    • Of all musicals, Les Mis makes me the biggest emotional wreck. Rent is second down.

When it comes to Les Mis/Rent- the first ones that come to mind, when I automatically think of songs that gets me, are “I Dreamed a Dream” and “Will I”.

Once “I Dreamed a Dream comes in Les Mis starts-the emotional response never seems to want to stop

  1. Let’s see… “Fantine’s Death/Come to Me” gets me 98.9% of the time. I’d say that the finale of Les Miz also gets me most of the time. “Turning” and “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables” are also major ones. (There are just a lot of songs in Les Miz, in general, that get me.) One that, kind of surprisingly, gets me emotional is “Thank Goodness” from Wicked. Glinda’s parts at the end of the song just make me so sad. The finale from A Tale of Two Cities also is a really emotional one, and is probably one of the biggest tearjerkers for me. “A New Life” and “Once Upon a Dream (Reprise)” from Jekyll & Hyde get me to cry every once in a while. “Nichts, nichts, gar nichts” from Elisabeth also makes me pretty sad. Another one would be “Der Prinz ist fort” from Mozart!. A lot of the final songs from Hadestown will often get me to cry, as well.
