Horse and His Boy Review

This is the 5th book (by publication date) in the Chronicles of Narnia series. I remember nothing about this book. So everything was very new to me.

The Horse and his Boy is a stirring and dramatic fantasy story that finds a young boy named Shasta on the run from his homeland with the talking horse, Bree. When the pair discover a deadly plot by the Calormen people to conquer the land of Narnia, the race is on to warn the inhabitants of the impending danger and to rescue them all from certain death.

I wasn’t excepting to see some of my favorite characters again. I already loved Susan, Edmund, and Lucy, and I was glad to see them again. That is when they were still kings and queens of Narnia. It was really fun meeting the other characters- from Shasta to Bree etc….

I loved Shasta as our protagonist. When he meets Bree, everything changes. He doesn’t know anything about Narnia and the North, but he longs to be there. He was literally surprised by a talking horse. He starts out as a slave and eventually escapes with Bree- both want a way out of slavery. He runs into some interesting characters during his journey.
