One of the two main genres of music I love is contemporary christian music. One of the earliest songs I discovered in that genre is “Lord of the Dance”. I discovered that song at Kanuga through Fran McKendree at Parish Retreats (that song was one of the main ones we sang when Fran led our music). Fran means a lot to me and so many at my church family.
Dance, then, wherever you may be,
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he,
And I’ll lead you all, wherever you may be,
And I’ll lead you all in the Dance, said he
The lyrics above are the main lyrics I remember. Every so often, I find myself with the melody and those particular lyrics stuck in my head. The earliest christian music are very important. Without them, my love for contemporary christian music wouldn’t exist. Same with Kanuga- if it wasn’t for that place, my spiritual journey probably may not have started.
