Well, it is obvious I love a lot of musicals. I believe MOST of the musicals I fell in love with came out before I was born. I decided to write a list of those musicals today. The ones with the * mean that they were musicals from my childhood.
The Shows
- Les Mis
- Phantom of the Opera
- Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
- Pippin
- Godspell
- Sound of Music *
- Cinderella
- Oklahoma
- South Pacific
- Annie *
- Music Man
- White Christmas
- Fiddler on the Roof
- Man of La Mancha
- Oliver
- Singin’ in the Rain
- Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory *
- Wizard of OZ *
So many classics! I will say, I probably know more about older musicals like these than more modern ones. Out of all of these, either White Christmas or Les Mis would be my favorite. I remember every Christmas we would watch the original White Christmas movie, and how can you not love Les Mis?

White Christmas is a movie I try to watch over the Holidays. When it comes to The Golden Age of musicals, my favorite musical is Sound of Music
You are right- it is hard not to love Les Mis. However, back in high school, I literally thought I would never love a tragedy. But Les Mis decided to prove me wrong

Good choices. I quote from “South Pacific” often. Oscar Hammerstein wrote the powerful song about bigotry “You have to be carefully taught, by the time you are seven or eight. You have to be carefully taught to hate the people your parents hate.” Keith
