July 2021 in Review

July was actually one of the BEST months of the year! There were some really incredible highlights found this particular month. Now, let me talk about those highlights.

Reading

I actually finished five books in July, which I originally thought was four.

Circe was started in June and finished early July. A book I would recommend to Song of Achilles’ fans. After all, Circe and Song of Achilles are written by the same author.

I finished the first four Heroes of Olympus books. Here is my recommendation- read Percy Jackson and the Olympians first. It makes you understand Heroes of Olympus better- due to coming across some of the same characters and locations. One of the things I love about Heroes of Olympus is exploring the new characters and monsters/locations. Two of the major characters of Percy Jackson still remain major characters of Heroes of Olympus- they are two of the seven demigods on the next Great Prophecy

Seven half-bloods shall answer the call

To storm or fire, the world must fall

An oath to keep with a final breath,

And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death

The prophecy above is what Heroes of Olympus is surrounded around. Jason, Leo, Piper, Percy, Hazel, Frank, and Annabeth are your seven demigods- a combo of Greek and Roman. Found within in the series are various quests and challenges- ones that seem almost impossible at times. While I finished the first four, I started the fifth and final Heroes of Olympus book.

Musicals

All musical fans have missed going to musical theatre since they closed. For me, I finally got to go back to a musical in July. The final week, I saw Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Central Piedmont Community College (AKA CPCC). Like any CPCC production, it was an incredible production. There seemed to some coincidence surrounding Joseph because I also saw Godspell at CPCC back in 2012.

I actually saw one of the actors in Joseph before. One of the actors in the children’s choir was my Young Cosette in CPCC’S Les Mis. I loved my narrator, Joseph, and the brothers. It was a wonderful way to get introduced back into musical theatre especially through CPCC.

Another Highlight

I have struggled with getting a job for a long time! The same week I saw Joseph was the same week I found out I was hired. Bitty and Beau’s Coffee was a job I was hoping to get.
