Loving Families in Storytelling

There are two types of families in storytelling. There are the loving families, and there are the nonloving families. They exist in the world of novels, operas, and musicals- that is where I have seen them.

SPOILERS

Mufasa and Simba

Simba and Mufasa share a close bond. Mufasa was an amazing king and father to Simba. He taught him incredible lessons about hoe to be a good king. But Mufasa’s time was short-lived due to his younger brother, Scar, killing him.

Anna and Elsa

Yes, their relationship was rocky at times. They eventually lost both of their parents. The core of Frozen is on these two sisters. Elsa was only trying to protect Anna, but Anna wanted a closer relationship.

Aurora and Jasmine

They are the main characters of Greatest Discovery. Born in 1998 to artsy and Disney loving families. Both twins have hazel hair and light blue eyes- the difference is one girl has curly hair and the other has straight. Aurora is innocent, stubborn, and loves playing with dolls and princesses. Jasmine is more mature, optimistic, fiercely protective of her sister, and loves designing the clothes the dolls wear.

Due to a car crash during a snowy day, these twins survived while their parents died. Jasmine became even more protective of Aurora. Mali, Aurora’s special doll, was the last doll her mom made her. Aurora struggles a lot more with the loss.

Belle and Maurice

While the town may think they are odd, these two don’t see each other that way. You truly can see Belle’s love for her father when she takes her father’s place at Beast’s castle.

Fantine and Cosette

Yes, in the musical, you never saw the two of them together. But Fantine truly loved her daughter unconditionally. She would do anything for her daughter. That is why she went as far as turning to prostitution to provide for Cosette. She hoped her daughter would have a better life then she had. She had peace and comfort when Valjean promised to raise Cosette- that is why her death scene was bittersweet.

Valjean and Cosette

This is one of my favorite relationships. Valjean adopted Cosette after her mother died. On Fantine’s deathbed, Valjean promised her he would raise Cosette. Little did Valjean know how much Cosette would change his life. He even changed her life as well- literally, Cosette was abused until he rescued her.

Aries and Darcy

Yes, this is an Uncle and Nephew relationship, but its still family. Aries may be a confident leader, but he can doubt himself at times. So sometimes, Darcy gives him advice at times. Darcy is next in line to be leader of the Fairy Frogs.

Effa and Rudy

They are two minor characters in Tale of the Cattail Forest. I like to call them “peas in a pods”. They are identical twins, who eventually befriend Celeste.

The Weasley Family

They are one of my favorite families in literature. I love how they basically treated Harry like one of their own. Ron is one of his best friends- that is how he was introduced to the family. Seven siblings. You mainly spend time with Ron, Fred, George, and Ginny at Hogwarts- Ron and Harry are part of the same year. There are not many good families in Harry Potter- at least you have the incredible Weasley Family.

March 2021 in Review

March was really not that good of a month. It is so hard to think of highlights.

Reading

Well, I never actually started a book. I continued reading Starless Sea on my Kindle, but still not finished. I had planned to finish more books by now. Not in a reading slump, but a bit slower on reading.

Blumenthal

I have some exciting news. My mom got the two of us tickets for the Immersive Vincent Van Gogh Experience. Blumenthal is well known for the Broadway Tours, but they do way more then just those musicals. Blumenthal also supports events.

Favorite Male Authors

This time, I am writing a list of favorite male authors. So much easier to think of favorite male authors. Once again, can include nonfiction authors. Some of these authors, I only read one book.

  4. Charles Dickens
  5. Thomas Hardy
  6. Victor Hugo
  7. Miguel de Cervantes

Things you May no Know about Epilepsy

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that consists of mainly seizures. To manage it, you usually have to take medications. However, there are some things people may not know about this disorder.

The Emotions

Yes, a lot of emotions come with it. Fear, Frustration, Annoyed, Anxiety, Stress, Anger, Sadness, Jealously- those emotions are why I can relate to Rent. Despite it being a different disease, it does come with similar emotions- ones that I can understand. It almost feels like a gigantic beast that keeps on attacking you in some ways- the only part it doesn’t really attack it your personality despite trying to get in the way. There are even some emotions I can’t describe.

The Symptoms

Yes, it is obvious epilepsy consists of seizures. However there are other symptoms, which result from medication not working or side effects of them and being over-medicated. I am dealing with some of these problems NOW. This is when that beast inside you strongly attacks too much.

  1. Stumbley/Wobbliness
  2. Tenderness in arms and/or legs
  3. Hard to see- weird because I need glasses. But now, struggle with the glasses on
  4. Dizziness- even from only standing still
  5. Higher Possibility to even Fall
  6. Some Limbs not Functioning well
  7. Not Walking Well
  8. Pain in different parts of the body
  9. Not Being Able to Move
  10. Not Being Able to Grasp a Wrist or Cup
  11. Fatigue
  12. Hard to Make word phrases and words- after having a seizure

What you Can’t Do at Times:

  1. Getting a Job- only if not capable. Due to having a lot of the same problems listed above are why I still don’t get a job
  2. Certain jobs off Limits- yes, this is true that can result in not being able to get a job. There are some jobs you such as server you can’t do. You even can’t handle machines or be on tall ladders. Even working outside- if being in heat is a trigger of a seizure (I have a hard time with heat)
  3. Exercise- only happens when it is too hot out or still too wobbly or if you really can’t walk well
